I HAD TO BECOME A PLUMBER

This little short had been growing on me for months. The situation was a constant obstacle I found myself running into. Having a teenage boy in the house, I had to become a plumber. Repeatedly running into the same toilet issue, I immediately became an expert with using the plunger. My nightmare was that one day I would run into a clog I wouldn’t be able to get rid of.

My everyday obstacle.

I put this shoot off for a while. I storyboarded it the day prior and set aside my gear. Before anything happened in the space, I had to deep clean the toilet and the surrounding areas. It took about 2 hours in total to sanitize everything. Then I ran some tests.

Clorox, Bleach, and sanitizing wipes.

I moved some equipment in and started to figure out my angles and the lighting.

Preliminary equipment set up.

There were issues with how I was going to record sound, iteration, and order of the story creation process. It was hard deciding which shots should be recorded first.

Things got moving.

The hardest shot to take, ever is the first shot. Pushing the button to start. It’s the hardest. I suggest you push that damn button whether you’re ready or not. Just push it. You’ll find out what you messed up or missed right after. Get it out of the way.

Just put it in the toilet.

The best feeling is finishing. Just show up. Push the button. And get to the end.

So…thank you too, for just for showing up.
