I had to install a light fixture in one of our closets recently. I am just not that "handy"...man. The old light was a ceramic one and had a chain on it. The chain broke and I mentioned I wanted one of those cool Edison looking ones for my closet. The mounting bracket was a puzzle. It came with these screws that you could cover with knob - so that meant I had to put this mounting plate onto the box first (?) I had to put these other nuts and bolts facing the opposite way to mount the fixture onto it. Anybody know what I'm talking about? Anyway, the old one seemed safer. It was connected to posts via the thick hard wire and screwed down. This one had soft wires that I had to use those screw things; those electrical twist things. It looks cool now, but I'm not sure this damn thing is as safe as the old kind. This Edison light gets pretty hot too.

An older (sacrificial) Rode VideoMic into a Zoom H1, on a Delkin Fat Gecko suction cup mount. I wanted to get good engine sounds; revving, ramping, and the parking brake engagement. The Fat Gecko is a solid mount. We've had my camera mounted on it before and even drove on the freeway. I use a couple of cables as additional safety.

It was super loud. I might need to start carrying ear plugs as a counter measure. They also come in handy as a reason to ignore people. "Huh? What?! I'm sorry I can't hear you." Point to your plugs. "I have ear plugs in, sorry."
